A video editing course with internship is a course where you first learn editing in class (cutting, sound, colour correction, titles and exporting) and then use those skills on real work for an agency, brand or YouTube creator. By the end, you should have a few published videos to show employers, plus a certificate.

Which type of internship should you look for?

If you’re a beginner, look for a course that has live projects during the training and then helps you get outside work with an agency or a creator. Class projects on their own don’t give you a work reference. And if you go to an agency without enough training, they’ll mostly give you small jobs like renaming files and organising footage.

We say this because every few months someone walks in from another institute in Ghaziabad or Indirapuram who paid for an “internship” and got two practice projects in the same computer lab.

If you’re starting from zero, go for live projects during the course, and ask the institute to write down what outside work they’ll help you get after that.

What do you learn in a video editing course with practical training?

The first few weeks are mostly about cutting. You learn to trim clips, put them in order on the timeline and match the cuts to music or dialogue. Then you learn sound clean-up, colour correction, titles and how to export videos for YouTube, Instagram and clients.

Live projects also teach you to handle client changes. A client may ask for the same logo to be made bigger three or four times, and you have to keep revising without missing the deadline. Class exercises don’t give you much practice at this.

Learn Premiere Pro first, since most agencies and creators around Noida use it. Can you join a video editing course after 10th or 12th?

Yes. Most private institutes don’t ask for a particular stream or percentage for a video editing course. After 12th, a video editing course with internship fits well in a gap year, or you can do it alongside a distance or evening BA or B.Com.

After 10th, learning the software is easy enough, but getting an internship is harder because agencies usually don’t take school students. Class 10 students from Ghaziabad societies often ask us for an internship straight away. What we suggest is a short course in the summer holidays and then free edits for the school’s annual day or a family shop, which become their first portfolio when they apply for paid work after 12th. If you’re in college, there are two official portals you can use. The AICTE Internship Portal lists internships for students of AICTE-approved colleges. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs runs the PM Internship Scheme for young people who aren’t in full-time study or a job. The scheme’s age limit and monthly amount were changed in 2026, so verify current figures at pminternship.mca.gov.in before acting.

A lot of editing internships at small agencies and creator teams are unpaid, or pay a small stipend. We think an unpaid internship is fine for a month or two if you get published work and a reference. If someone asks you to pay for an internship, don’t take it.

What work can you get after the course?

After a video editing course with internship and placement support, the usual first jobs are junior video editor, social media editor for a brand, or editor for a YouTube channel. Some students join production houses as post-production assistants, where the first year is mostly organising footage and syncing audio.
